I recently had to replace the shower drain in our home. It failed after 25 years of almost daily use. The old drain was attached to 2" copper drain line with lead and oakum. Getting it out was not a walk in the park. Because of where the drain line is located, using a replacement drain from the big box stores was not an option. There was not enough room to cut the 2 inch drain line nor did I want try and remove a section of pipe with a torch. The WingTite drain was a lifesaver. We had to purchase the Copper Drain Pipe Adapter to make it work. Installation took longer than anticipated because it took us some time to get the 2 inch copper pipe smooth enough to accept the adapter. Once the epoxy set, installation of the WingTite drain was a breeze. Make certain that you do a dry fit of the assembly after taking out the o-ring. In our case, the existing drain line was a bit higher then the level of the WingTite shower drain. We were able to shim the pipe so that the top of the copper drain line was just flush with the top of the drain. This is a clever and well engineered product. It saved me from having to hire a plumber to come in and replace the existing 2" drain lines.
